Workshop Overview
Your learning outcomes
- Understanding of tonic and phasic musculature and a basic overview of postural distortions and muscle imbalance
- Recognition of tonic and phasic muscles
- Background anatomy and physiology relevant to self myofascial release including muscle physiology and in depth connective tissue anatomy/physiology
- Understanding of myofascial pain, referred pain, trigger points and the injury process
- Corrective strategies to release myofascia including foam rolling
- The ability to recognise and aid in the correction of muscle length and how it can integrate to a physical activity programme
Pre-requisites
- Level 2/3 Fitness Instructor or Personal Trainer
- Any healthcare professional including Physiotherapist, Osteopath, Chiropractor, Sport Rehabilitator, Sports Therapist, Sports Massage therapist
- Anyone who can demonstrate a strength in knowledge of anatomy and physiology
Assessment
- There is no formative assessment; however learners will be constantly assessed throughout the day through practice and questioning
Format of attendance
- One full day attendance to the course
Certification and REPS accreditation
- Upon completion of the course a certificate of attendance will be achieved
- This course is accredited by REPs and is worth 4 CPD credits
Special Notes
It should be noted that a significant portion of the information in this workshop is covered in the two day Postural Correction Course (PCC) offered by ATP UK. If you are attending the PCC then it is not necessary to attend this workshop. However if you wish to refresh your knowledge we are happy to discuss if it is appropriate for you to attend this workshop.
